What size should my email signature be?
Is size and width important when it comes to designing an email signature?
Much like HTML emails, email signatures need to be designed to suit different screen sizes and widths, from desktop to mobile.
Because email clients can only ever send one version of the HTML code, unfortunately, including viewport or css styling to adjust the email signature's size on receipt of the email, depending on screen size, like modern browsers do, still simply won't work in a majority of modern email clients.
Just like HTML emails, email signatures must be designed using older principles of design like tables and inline css. You can't use divs and newer design techniques because, well, email clients just don't listen to them.
Our recommendation for size of email signatures
A good size and width to aim for when designing your email signature is approximately:
- 480 pixels wide
- however high you like
Keeping your email signature within these sizes, will suit most screens sizes from an iPhone X to a Samsung Galaxy, all the way up to larger desktop screens.
