Using WhatsApp links in your email signature
With our new WhatsApp link validation, the recipients of your emails can now instantly start a conversation with your business by clicking a link in your email signature.
You have the ability to enter pre-filled message text when the user clicks your link, or create a new message and allow them to enter the text themselves.
Your WhatsApp link can be added to any contact field or social icon, and works with mobile devices and desktop.
Entering your WhatsApp link
To add a WhatsApp link, select either the Link icon or WhatsApp icon and enter your WhatsApp link.
Your link should be https://wa.me/<number>
where the <number>
is your full phone number in international format. Do not use any brackets or dashes when adding the phone number in international format.
Use: https://wa.me/15551234567
Don't use: https://wa.me/+001-(555)1234567
When the user clicks your link, it will open a conversation with your number in their WhatsApp application if on their mobile. If they're on a desktop or don't have the mobile app installed, it will allow them to send you a message via their web browser.
Adding a pre-filled message to your link
Our software allows you to add pre-filled text to the message when someone clicks your link, rather than the user having to enter their own message.
To add pre-filled message text, you will need to add a string of code to the end of your link.
Add ?text=
after your phone number, then enter your message but replace any spaces with %20
.
For example: https://wa.me/15551234567?text=This%20is%20your%20message
The above code would pre-fill a message saying "This is your message" to the number +001-(555)1234567, which would look something like the below if they clicked your link from a desktop or laptop.
